DENTAL AGENESIS AND ITS ASSOCIATION WITH OTHER DENTAL ANOMALIES, ANALISIS RADIOGRAPHIC AND CASTS IN A SAMPLE OF BOGOTA POPULATION
DESCRIPTORES TEMATICOS: Tooth anomalies, Association, Dental Agenesis, Taurodontism, Infraocclusion, Small size, Ectopic eruption, Panoramic, Cases, Control.
The association between Dental Agenesis, Taurodontism, Infraocclusion of primary molars, ctopics canines maxillary and small size of lateral incisors were studied in 64 healthy patients, They were chosen between 1493 clinical histories and panoramic radiographics examined.
And had been count criterions of inclusion proposal for the study.
The sample that was examinated was constituted for patients called " cases" with agenesis(22 girls and 10 boys) and patients called "control" without agenesis (21 girls and 11 boys).
The anomalies were determined with panoramic radiographics and casts of each patient.
In the cases patients were diagnosed 51 agenesis, the second premolars lowers, maxillary lateral incisors, second premolars uppers and mandibular lateral incisors were the most affected. I also found 37 ectopic canines, 6 size small of maxillary lateral incisors, 10 infraocclusion of primary molars. In the patients "control" were diagnosed 28 maxillary ectopic canines, 7 small size of maxillary lateral incisors, 2 infra-occlusion of primary molars.
With the application of logistic regression test, it was not found any statiscal evidence, to affirm the association between dental agenesis and the other anomalies.
The anàlisis with chi-square and fiher's test, to determine any association of each anomalie with the gender's patient and the location of teeth in the arcade only it was found significative statical for anterior location of agenesis in relation to feminine gender. The disperse in the datas, when the results were analyzed, implicate variety in the presentation of each patient anomalies. This suggest that these anomalies act as symptons or several manifestation of a disorder that isn't determined yet. My interpretation is "if anomalie is present doesn't imply the presence of another but its presumption. My recommendation is to increase the sample and a genetic study in healthy patients that have any of these anomalies, to determine if any gen or genes implied in it's etiology.
